Soccer is becoming more and more popular here in the US. Young sport fans use to play it in Middle School but only the best and more passionate about Soccer play it in amateur teams. I had a terrific opportunity to watch and meet a “better-than-expected” young team, here in Maryland: Crofton Cannons Soccer team. They play on Sundays in a local league and have very special fans: friends and family that cheer for them the entire game.
I heard about them through their coach Sr. Carlos Goncalves, who, like the majority of Portugueses, loves soccer and takes it to the next level coaching young players with a lot of potential. Being part of this team is more than scoring, kicking and winning; it builds less egocentric individuals due to everyone’s contributions to a greater team; develops important characteristics for future success: practice, patience and persistence; and from their great coach (dedicated, thoughtful and skilled) all are motivated to continue seeking out, trust and learn from other mentors who can help in the future.

The team won! It was very exciting to see them celebrating.
It was everything but a boring game :) I really enjoy watching it and talk to some of the players after the game.
With all their potential it would be great to see them participating in an International competition.

Olá Irina!! Antes de mais nada, muitos parabéns pelo seu aniversário :) Continuo a visitar assiduamente o seu blog, acabo com a sua ajuda por conhecer um pouco mais desse fantástico país.
Pelo que percebi a Irina vive e trabalha nos EUA, ligada à área da investigação/ciência em bioquímica.
